Slick Rock
From Dirtopia, The Off-Road Encyclopedia
Slick rock(Trail #9)Rated Most Difficult on the tellico trail map.
The trail to slickrock isn't to hard with a few tight ledges and turns but the real treat is at the end. The approach to slickrock is a rock garden that changes everytime someone drives through it so the line the guy in front of you took, might not be the line for you. Once your through that its about 40 yds of steady uphill slick rock that is usually wet or at least damp. I had trouble walking up some parts, due to the lack of traction on the rock face, but the swampers seemed to grip ok. The left line is easiest, but you can smack the left side wall and take out a quarter panel if your not careful. The right line is harder than the left, and has a potential for rollovers, but the center line is the hardest and if your rear end slides into a hole, flipping is going to happen. The best plan for slick rock is momentum and lockers.
The ledge at the end is pretty much winch only, unless you have momentum, power, and most importantly, a long wheelbase. It does get a little steeper with every attempt so who knows for next year.
Slickrock was my favorite trail I ran at tellico. I didn't have a winch so I couldn't try lower 2, guardrail, or school bus and helicopter pad. But I'll be back next year.
