Many states have something called "Skyline Drive" but this one is in the Manti-LaSal National Forest and runs along the top of the Wasatch Mountains front range in Central Utah. Due to the elevation it is impassable even by four wheel drive due to snow during all but a several summer and fall months of the year. It is open to snowmobiles during the Winter.

Skyline Drive is one of the highest roads in the United States and offers magnificent views of Sanpete Valley, mile-deep canyons, lakes, alpine meadows and forests. The elevation ranges from 9,000 to 11,000 feet.

The road is unsurfaced and rough in places but graded in others. Some sections are suitable for high clearance four-wheel drive vehicles only. Certain sections of the road are not open until late July or early August.

The highest point on Skyline Drive is at an elevation of 10,904 feet. It gives visitors views of Wasatch Plateau, adjacent mountain ranges, and Sanpete Valley.

There are various ways to get up to Skyline Drive. Many of these are other trails that come up from the valleys in the West. One paved route is to take US 31 out of Fairview, UT. Consult a map for details.

Another route is to start in the town of Spring City, UT and go Eastout of town on Spring City Canyon Rd. In about 15 miles you will come to the intersection of Skyline drive. Go North or South as you choose. Take a good topo map.
