This is BLM Land and a good spot and has much less snow than nearby Elk Mountain (ie. Penny Pines and Middle Creek) or Stonyford.

Directions
From Ukiah, CA
From Highway 101 (Redwood Highway) at Talmage Road, it's about 8 miles to the first staging area (Westside) of Cow Mountain. You can find directions to the head of the Mendo-Lake Road just past the Westside staging area on Google.
From Lakeport, CA
Hwy 29 either direction get off at 11th street and go west, Approx. 300 yards the road will turn Right 90 degrees. At this turn you will see a small road named Riggs if you go straight DO THIS. Riggs will then turn 90 degrees Left then right then Left. A few hundred yards after the last left will be Scott's Creek Rd on the R hand side. Turn Right and follow this road until the very end ( 4 miles or so ) This will lead you to a rock wash with a road that can be seen going up the hill. Lots of good trails off this road. Get Map - call number above. This has a pit toilets and campgrounds on the Ukiah side. The Lakeport side is a back door if you will and is only accessed by locals.
